Mannheim is located in the southwestern part of Germany, about 80km south of Frankfurt am Main. With approximately 295,000 inhabitants, it is the third-largest city in Baden-Württemberg.

There are numerous ways to travel to Mannheim:

By plane

1. Frankfurt am Main airport

Frankfurt am Main Airport is by far the largest airport by passenger traffic in Germany. Almost every international aiport offers direct flights to Frankfurt am Main airport. Many European airlines offer tickets in a price range of 100-250 EUR. Continental tickets are more expansive.

Travelling from Frankfurt am Main to Mannheim

There are two possibilities to travel from Frankfurt am Main airport to Mannheim. First, travellers can use the high speed train at the Frankfurt Airport long-distance station which is located directly next to the airport. 2. Frankfurt Hahn Airport

Another possiblity for European travellers is using low cost airlines such as Ryanair. Most low cost airlines land in Frankfurt Hahn airport which is located about 140km west of Mannheim.

By long distance train

Due to its convenient position, Mannheim acts as a train hub in between several German metropols. Thus many long-distance lines connect in Mannheim. By bus

Another cheap way of travelling to Mannheim is using bus companies. Many bus companies have a bus stop located at the Mannheim main train statio. Tickets are less than 50 EUR one way if bought timely. For example Eurolines connects many European cities with Mannheim.

By car 

If travelling in groups, the car is probably the cheapest way to get to Mannheim. Mannheim is surrounded by a ring of autobahns (A5 / A6) connecting it to Frankfurt in the north, Karlsruhe in the south, Saarbrücken in the west and Nuremberg in the east.
